Road Trip 2015: Where to Travel This Summer?

The road brings so many exciting adventures for all of us. If you plan to take your car out of town, with your friends and family, there are many places that you could visit. In fact, you’ll be surprised by the number of options that you could choose from regardless if you want to go straight north, or you want to head south, even reaching the Visayas and Mindanao area via RORO.

Baguio

One of the most popular road trip destinations in Baguio. Considered as the Summer Capital of the Philippines, Baguio provides you with a laid back vibe, not to mention a nice climate. Getting to Baguio these days turned out to be easy. Aside from the SCTEX, there is a newly opened expressway which will bring you all the way to La Union. Currently though, the last we heard, it extends only to Pangasinan. Using these expressways, you could reach Baguio with total travel time on the road for around 3-4 hours from Manila.

La Union

Before taking Baguio, you’ll end up in La Union. One of the things that you will love about La Union is the presence of waves. With seasonal waves approaching La Union, it is possible that you learn surfing. There are a lot of surf schools in the area, with surfboards that are for rent.

Sorsogon

Now, let’s proceed with some of the things that you’ll see South of Metro Manila. You have Sorsogon as a great place to visit. Here, have a chance to see the Butanding or whale shark in action. Sorsogon, is the nearest venue where you could swim with these gentle animals. Around how many hours do you need to get to Sorsogon? Well, it will most likely take more than half of your entire day to get there. If you enjoy the road, this is a beautiful place to visit.

Batangas

Batangas offers a variety of things to a traveler. If you plan on having a road trip, and backpacking, Batangas is a great place to explore for several reasons. For one, it is very near Manila. Within just a few hours, you could already reach Batangas. The second thing that you will love about Batangas is that it offers a great sight for snorkeling and diving.

Also, aside from the beaches and diving sites, you could also reach Pico De Loro and Gulugod Baboy, hiking spots that even a beginner could enjoy.

Quezon

If you think that Batangas beaches tend to be too crowded, you could always explore the islands found in Quezon province. Borawan for instance is a great place to stay in. Not only do you just have to bring a tent, but it is also accessible from Metro Manila. As the name suggests, it is a combo of both Borawan and Palawan. So what’s not to like?

Zambales

Lastly, you could visit Zambales if you want to enjoy the beach. Zambales also offers an alternative surfing destination for those who don’t want to drive all the way to La Union. One of the most popular beaches found in Zambales is Anawanin.  Here, you will see pine trees, beaches, and volcanic ashes. If you plan to head to Anawangin, you have to remember that they don’t have a signal for your phone.
